Trilogy of Tenderness & Tirades: Witness Life's Playlist in Three Acts with Owen Young's 'Three'

The enchanting Owen Young returns to the masses with his brand new album release 'Three' and here's everything you need to know! Hailing from Southern Ontario, Owen studied fine arts at UCLA and law at the University of Toronto. Currently residing on the acreage on the Grand River, Owen is a visionary who is carving nothing but pure art through this authentic and expressive style of artistry. An album that spawned out of the misery of the pandemic shutdown and its aftermath, this is a compilation of three songs that together tell a story of thorough introspection born out of upheaval. Without any further ado, let's dive right into it!

A serene trio of letters of nostalgia, a lament for one's golden past in the 60s and a rant about love lost and found, this is a finely curated masterpiece that will fill your heart with warmth.

We start this mesmerizing endeavor with the breathtaking notions of the letter in 'Voices in the Dust'. It is a beautiful track that feels like a lovely trip down memory lane, this talks about how one eventually has to let go of their past, no matter how it went, you gave it all you could and you cannot hide your pain of regrets. Also referring to the feeling of guilt and regret, this reminds us how our journey is unique and cannot be compared to anyone else.

'Running Down the River', the second track in the list is a moment of thorough observations and poignant story-telling and a lament for one missing this golden day, where one finds someone to lean on to and tell stories about their wounds only to find out that the listener is broken too. Accompanied by breathtaking guitar solos, this track is nothing less than a daydream and is too addictive and pleasant to ignore.

Last but not least, we arrive at 'That Could Have Been You', a supposed end to be a rant. A somber notion of epic storytelling that is a plea for love and compassion, this discusses vivid themes of communities, for the homeless, for women and children who were victims of inter-partner violence, serving as a reminder to always stay humble and grounded as at any point in time that story could've been yours. Written in harmony with his longtime friend Harry LaForme, this is a 7-minute-long reverie that will soothe your soul. Overall, I am speechless when thinking about the words to describe this album hence I would encourage you to listen to it yourself!
