Fragments of a Midnight Flame: Experience Post-Punk Heartbeats in Static with Blueprint Tokyo's new EP 'Blue'

Step into the hyper electric waves of energy with Blueprint Tokyo's brand new blues rock compilation 'Blue'! A dreamy indie rock duo who is molding the landscape of indie rock for the better, their artistry comprises pulsating synths and authentically sophisticated pop textures and is a canvas full of vibrancy of music where one experiences the radiance of neon blue, as they add their flair to every number. Currently residing in Oklahoma City, the duo includes Kevin Dawson and Andrew Hale who grew up listening to the icons from the 80s and 90s like Jimmy Eat World, AFI and Marianas Trench, and currently credit them as their major sonic influences. With ample critical accolades behind their name, let's witness the wrath of Blueprint Tokyo via this latest album!

Blueprint Tokyo

A dystopian journey of evading through one's mind and soul put out in the most dramatic manner possible, this funk-rock venture will set fire to your soul.

We begin this heart-reckoning journey with 'Odysseus'. A track that poetically describes the hysteria and dilemma associated with the passing of time and the residues of nostalgia that it leaves behind, this isn't a track for the faint-hearted. With its thunderous rock synths, this will send down gushes of adrenaline down the spine of listeners. The mood of the album completely changes with 'Only Hearts'. What starts as a supposed soft track, this track also dives deep into one's emotional psyche by making them experience endless yearning from someone who has no clue.

'Closed Door Drama' is the third act of the album that induces more drama into the album. A tale of epic storytelling where the artist navigates to his past to tell his younger self that it's going to be alright, this talks about how all of us want to be loved by someone in our lives. This carries unique spunky rock energy and is too addictive to be true. 'Mission Control' feels like a continuation of the previous track, where one learns to break free and act upon his dreams. Breaking free from the controlling barricades of society is a fight for liberty that has been enacted with grace.

Last but not least, we arrive at the coolest track of this album. 'Transfer' talks about the idea of 'fake it till you make it', talking about how infectious and unbreakable one becomes if they don't try to people please. Overall, I found this very different and cooler on the funk rock spectrum, and this will stand out to my fellow rock listeners as well.
